Sacramento adventures with Koff - then off to Mexico City!

After San Diego I took a flight to Sacramento to visit my pal from high school Dan and his wife Basia. It's a cute city, lots of scooters and bikes that can be rented to get around.

Below was this impressive ice cream place called Salt and Straw, as my readers know, I take ice cream VERY seriously. some flavours being pumpkin spiced tiramisu, coffee and love nuts, pear and blue cheese.

The following day, we went to a man made wake boarding parking https://wakeislandwaterpark.com/
Where a long rope drags around a large body of water. We both managed to get up after several falls but didn't feel confident to do any tricks on this time. If anyone near Sacramento this is a must try!

The following day we went to Napa for wine tasting, this is Jerry who run's one of the vineyards, apparently he had tenure at Stanford and left to start a Vineyard. The one was good but all of these tasted the same to me... :P

We then got an airbnb and did some hikes in the area seeing a ton of massive redwood trees!

Heading off to Mexico city where i will be setting up shop, lots of Spanish... and Salsa!

Last day Abu Dhabi

 On my last day I visited the Louvre of Abu Dhabi and the presidential palace, Qasr Al Watan. I didn't have a lot of time, also with my limited history knowledge I couldn't relate much to the Louvre, I didn't really feel there was much of a connected story. I did book a 30 min tour of the presidential palace. No one lives there but it is where other presidents and kings are hosted. It was incredible, lots of cool colour themes and patterns throughout. Pictures do not do this justice. I am now on my way to Oman. Pics don't show up on my computer but do show up on my phone! Hope you guys can see something! I had brunch at Marked at Edition, it was amazing, I had a combo for 140 AED, pics below and how I felt after... all breakfast should be as such! Finally, Abu Dhabi Pearl lounge was amazing at 2 pm full spread of salad bar, hot items, desserts, nice coffee machine, great lounge space. Thanks UAE!

Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe !!

Hello Philip Blog readers! It's been a hot minute because I have been so busy doing fun stuff in Japan. Out of all my travels, I have spent the most amount of time preparing for this trip. Booking restaurants, reviewing shitty instagram reels, understanding how to efficiently do activities like Tokyo Disney, and how to travel plan efficiently (places near each other or near subway lines). Not to mention intensive 2 months of Japanese study before my trip and daily lesson over zoom 2 weeks before. So far execution has been. near flawless! You can clearly have a great time without planning anything, but given how much there is to do, and how expensive it is to stay, efficiency is key. We started off in Tokyo, I arrived the day before where the weather was crappy but after that it's been really good! I surprised my group with oranges (Seinfeld reference but also super tasty). Kyoto, back to Tokyo and Japanese language school (and some missed pics).

So far my Japan trip has been going amazingly. With so much planning, I feel there was mainly only a few hiccups. I have felt as though I have explored so much, but still left so much to see or do. The trip definitely prioritized food and doing stuff. I am now at Coto Japanese school studying Japanese, I am beginner 1 level 3. I feel like we are able to have basic conversation but enough to make the class a fun and conversational. Teachers seem a bit limited with English but it also forces us to use more Japanese to ask questions. The school is beautiful with as much roasted tea as a I want, but the class size was up to 8 one day, but it seems people miss often, today we had 3 people... I am family with most of the grammar, but I am way behind on the Kanji. I have avoided learning this as I was worried it would slow down my speaking, but now the time has come.
