Finishing up CDMX, Galapagos, then... Chile!!
Hey all, I haven't posted much because I've been largely focussing on Spanish, learning salsa, bachata and trying out interesting restaurants!
I had my first live event dancing bachata. It's really interested how advanced people make it look so natural. In Mexico city, there is pretty much an event every day to take Bachata/Salsa classes. Although, thee majority I've taken, the instructors speak little English, but doesn't seem to be a big issue for peopel that don't speak Spanish.
I also have a friend who has set up a Bachata library which is a great idea, check it out and his instagram: https://www.tampham.co/bachata-library/
In Mexico City, there are many language exchanges. So lots of foreigners come and just don't want to leave. I've been staying in Condesa and Roma Norte... it's bougie, and when locals find out I'm staying here I get "of course you are!".
It's not as cheap as may think, but not quite North American prices. I have continued online Spanish classes with Fluenz because I just don't feel i can find the equivalent elsewhere.
I've also started teaching Spanish to some local foreigners because I've come to realize I really understand a lot of grammar and I have SOOO many little tips I've learned along the way from all the classes, videos, and programs I've used.
This is the set up of Busan (thrid floor) which has awesome salsa then bachata classes Wednesday and Thursday. They have 3 levels, and after 2 weeks of classes almost daily, I've finally upgraded to intermediate (but still feel quite beginner).
More classes
This my first real event to show people what's what with my bachata moves!
This was the best costume I saw, none of her friends even knew who this was.
This is the set up of salsa and bachata in Parque Mexico with ISM on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a ton of people dancing here. The most entertaining thing was someone teaching somehow Hula Hoop to a Miley Cyrus song.
Below is one of my fav restaurants, Masala y Maize
Below is Mike, originally from Egypt, but fluent in Spanish and runs the Saturday language exchange. Probably one of the best hosts, he loves brining people together (lots of "you should meet... ").
